Today I had the opportunity to have lunch with a dear old friend... someone I hadn't seen in nearly 10 years. The last time we talked... she was newly married, and I was single. Now, we're both married, she has four little girls, and I have my two little ones. It was great to talk with her again... just like old times.
It's nice to rekindle a friendship- I'm so glad she found me again! Thanks Nicci!

DS's PT Evaluation
We had DS's physical therapy evaluation today. For those of you who don't know, DS's feet are very pigeon-toed (his toes/feet point in when he walks). We were hoping he would outgrow it but noticed in the last few months it had gotten considerably worse. Luckily, it isn't as serious as I thought. He will have to wear braces on both of his feet for a while (possibly years), but because he's so young and we're catching it early, he shouldn't need any surgery. The braces are short and will be hidden by socks- which I'm grateful for because I would hate for him to have another thing kids could possibly pick on him about.
His pigeon toeing is probably caused by hypotonia or low muscle tone. Many children with autism have very low muscle tone. For example, if you close your eyes and hold your arms straight out in the air, you can feel your muscles telling you that your arms are straight out. Many children with autism cannot feel this sensation- they cannot feel their limbs/muscles. Anyway, this is causing lots of issues with DS- he walked very late, has difficulty walking on different types of flooring/grass, difficulty with steps/stairs. He is also extremely timid about trying different things- mainly because he can't always feel what he's doing. It's hard to explain... and I'm sure makes things very scary for him.
He will be starting physical therapy (on top of his speech therapy and occupational therapy) in a couple weeks. They are going to do a lot of water exercises with him (which should be interesting since he hates taking baths)!

Weekly Weigh-In
Lost .6 last week. I have to admit, I took the week off from counting my points. And it appears I am taking this week off too. I'm lucky I still lost... I'm sure it will catch up with me!

Happy Memorial Day!

Happy Memorial Day everyone. I hope you have the opportunity to spend it with family, friends and the ones you love.
We're off to my father's today for a nice lunch. We will also be stopping at my great-grandmother's grave to leave some flowers... she passed away last summer. It should be a nice day.

Change of Plans...
Well, we didn't end up going to the Special Olympics. DD was sent home sick from school that morning with a rash all over her face, neck and back. She has extremely sensitive skin, and I think it was a mixture of sunscreen I had put on her the day before and possibly some sunburn and bug bites. Anyway, it faded by the end of the day, but we didn't think we should go in case it was something worse. We were extremely disappointed, but there's always next year!
It's raining cats and dogs here right now! I can't sleep it's thundering and lightning so loudly!

Weekly Weigh-In
Lost another 1 pound this week. I am now down 20.8 pounds. I bought a couple size 8 pants a couple weeks ago- they now fit pretty well (good enough that I'm not embarrassed to wear them out!). My goal is to lose another 15 pounds, but honestly, I'm feeling pretty good where I'm at right now. I'm going to keep going though... I know I'll feel even better once I reach my goal!
And I promise... I'm going to get some pics of the kids posted this weekend! We got a new trampoline, and it's making for some great action shots!
