Busy, busy...

For a while now, the geek and I have been trying to figure out a way to keep track of all the kid's appointments... along with playgroups and school functions and everything else. We finally decided to create a large calendar to hang in our entryway. I found an empty frame at a thrift store, he cut a piece of masonite to fit, and I painted it with chalkboard paint. I finally got it hung up yesterday. It's scary to see it all written out- we really are busy!

Notice tomorrow's square? There's nothing in it! It's the first weekday this month we haven't had an appointment scheduled! Yay!

Kid's Tree

Here's our downstairs tree- the kid's tree... also known as the "Dora the Explorer" tree. There's Dora ornaments, Dora lights... even presents wrapped with Dora paper! Anything for the kids!
It's a-DORA-ble! (sorry, I couldn't resist!)

Every year we take a picture of the kid's helping us put the tree-topper on- it's amazing to see how much bigger they've gotten (the kids, not the tree)!

While we were decorating the tree, DS thought it was hilarious to stand on the coffee table, jump up onto the couch, climb onto the back of the couch, and jump off... hoping someone would catch him along the way! The geek and I didn't think it was hilarious!

A Visit with Santa...

A few weeks ago our playgroup hosted a holiday party for all its members. There was great food, fun, games and crafts for both kids and adults!

Santa even paid us a visit!! Neither DD or DS seemed especially thrilled with meeting him, but we did manage to get a couple pics of all of us!

Is it just me or does Santa look somewhat concerned in this picture? We were one of the last groups to get our pics taken... I think Santa was ready to be done!

It was a great party! We have really enjoyed meeting the other parents in the group and the kids love to scope out all the other little ones! It's a great group!

Bye, Bye Crib!

Well, DD's crib has officially been dismantled and passed onto another family! Luckily, this transition hasn't been too difficult- DD seems to love her new big-girl bed! Of course, I'm knocking on wood even as I type this- I would hate to jinx it!
We've been having some bad weather, so no school for DD today! We're all feeling a little claustrophobic here!
I'll load some pics soon! I can't find the memory card to load anything!

Success!

DD slept in her "big-girl" bed for the entire night last night! It's been a slow transition, but we're hoping this continues!
Both the kids have colds and DD has been home from school all week! Makes for long days for Mommy!
Hope to post some pics soon! The kids aren't looking their best this week- there's a lot of runny noses and snotty faces!

Big Girl Bed!

DD has finally moved into a big-girl bed (at least for naps)! Of course, five minutes after this picture was taken, she rolled right off! No permanent damage done!

Please forgive her demonic eyes in this picture- I couldn't get the red-eye to adjust!

DS loves it too!

And it's big enough for Daddy to nap in!

It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas!

Our upstairs Christmas tree is up! This tree is "fancier" than our downstairs tree is going to be... that will be the tree with all our non-matching ornaments. I wanted a silver and gold themed tree this year- luckily we have room for two!

Sorry!

Sorry it's been so long since a new post! We're still catching up from the holidays! I'll try to get some pics out tonight or tomorrow!
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Just in case I don't get a post out before Turkey Day...
have a great Thanksgiving everyone! And a great shopping day on Friday!

You all know how much the geek loves his green bean casserole!

And Perhaps The Most Exciting of All!

We can fit a car in our garage! Good work Daddy!

Mommy, I'm helping you dust...

Paper towels everywhere- with DS in the middle of all of it!

Some Pics From the Weekend...

We had a small Thanksgiving dinner this weekend with family in Boone. The kids had a great time!

Doesn't DS look like his daddy?

Look at that hair!

Not sure what DD was doing in this picture, but she's making good eye contact, huh?

Christmas Lists

Many of you have been asking what the kids could use (or want) for Christmas. Here are a few ideas for you!

DD could always use more "Dora" stuff (clothes, dolls, whatever). She has so many of the movies, I can't tell you which ones she has or doesn't have. She could also use clothes for school- she's in 3T pants and 4T shirts. As always, books are very much loved in this household!

Now, DS is all about trucks, cars, and noisy stuff. He also loves blocks (especially Duplos). We would love to start getting him some train stuff (Thomas, etc.)- preferably the bigger pieces for safety's sake!

They both do a lot of puzzles during their therapy sessions, so those would come in handy as well. I would recommend that you keep them pretty simple- 3-5 big pieces are what they're working on right now.

Feel free to give us a call if you want more ideas!

So much for daily posts...

Sorry I didn't get a post out yesterday. Life sometimes gets in the way, you know?
The geek's car has been giving us fits the past few days. Lots of trips to Napa Auto Parts... but we think it's finally fixed. It has 180,000 miles or something... sadly, it might be on it's last leg.
DD had her second session with her new speech therapist today. We're learning different techniques to use with her and figuring out what works and what doesn't. Today we learned that a 1:45pm session is much too late in the afternoon for her... she definitely needed a nap! Lesson learned.
Here's a new Thanksgiving banner I made for the fireplace! I got to use my new laminator- that always makes me happy!

I'll try to get some pics of the kids out tonight- but no promises!

Completed Room #1

Now, this blog can't be ALL about the kids!
I think we can finally declare that one room in our house is done (at least until I decide to change it AGAIN!). Not much was done with it... painting and a few knick-knacks added, but we're happy with it!

Never mind that it's the smallest room in the house (too small to get good pictures).
Never mind that it's hardly ever used... it will be the kid's bathroom once ONE of them is potty trained (maybe in 2008?)!! The potty chair was conveniently moved out of view for these pics!
One room is done- we have to start somewhere, right?

Like Father, Like Son

Maybe I'll be an engineer like Daddy when I grow up!? I LOVE building with my blocks!

He's All Boy!

DS (dear son) really is all boy! Bumps, bruises, scrapes and cuts have become a way of life around here!

From diving head first off the couch (or ottoman or bed or stairs) to climbing the chairs and table, DS is as rough and tumble as they come!

I think his t-shirt really says it all, "I do all my own stunts!"

School Day!

When is the bus going to be here? I'm ready to see Miss Kim, Miss Deb and Miss Deb (yes, she has two teachers named Deb).
DD (dear daughter) now carries small pictures of her teachers all the time when she's at home. On days that she doesn't have school she carries a picture of her classroom as well. I guess Mommy and Daddy are chopped liver...

I love school!

So tired...

Mom and Dad- This blogging is exhausting!

A Visit with Grandma Sharon!

Grandma Sharon came to visit a couple weeks ago, and we had a great time shopping, visiting and playing! We managed to get a few good pics of the kids during her visit (not an easy task these days!). Enjoy!

Fun at the Pumpkin Patch!

A few weeks ago our playgroup hosted an evening at the local pumpkin patch. The kids really seemed to enjoy it- and the geek LOVED the corn maze! Here are a few pics from our fun-filled day!

Look how big the three of you have gotten!

A little quiet time with Mommy on the swing!

This was fun- now let's go home!
