Proud Mama...

Here's just a snippet of an email I got from DD's preschool teacher today.

"... H is doing great. She seems to really like her new friends. Smiling alot when they come around her..."

She is making so much progress... meeting and exceeding lots of her IEP goals. And just as exciting (at least for me anyway), it appears she has some friends this year. One of the hardest parts of her autism diagnosis for me is that she doesn't really have any friends- nor does it really seem she wants any. But it sounds like she's made some new ones this year!

From the Mouths of Babes...

I found this on someone else's blog (thanks 5 Years and 2 Boys Later). Totally cracked me up!

HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHO TO MARRY?

You got to find somebody who likes the same stuff. Like, if you like sports, she should like it that you like sports, and she should keep the chips and dip coming. -- Alan, age 10

No person really decides before they grow up who they're going to marry. God decides it all way before, and you get to find out later who you're stuck with. -- Kristen, age 10

WHAT IS THE RIGHT AGE TO GET MARRIED?

Twenty-three is the best age because you know the person FOREVER by then. -- Camille, age 10

HOW CAN A STRANGER TELL IF TWO PEOPLE ARE MARRIED?

You might have to guess, based on whether they seem to be yelling at the same kids.-- Derrick, age 8

WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUR MOM AND DAD HAVE IN COMMON?

Both don't want any more kids. -- Lori, age 8

WHAT DO MOST PEOPLE DO ON A DATE?

Dates are for having fun, and people should use them to get to know each other. Even boys have something to say if you listen long enough -- Lynnette, age 8

On the first date, they just tell each other lies and that usually gets them interested enough to go for a second date. -- Martin, age 10

WHAT WOULD YOU DO ON A FIRST DATE THAT WAS TURNING SOUR?

I'd run home and play dead. The next day I would call all the newspapers and make sure they wrote about me in all the dead columns. -- Craig, age 9

WHEN IS IT OKAY TO KISS SOMEONE?

When they're rich. -- Pam, age 7

The law says you have to be eighteen, so I wouldn't want to mess with that. -- Curt, age 7

The rule goes like this: If you kiss someone, then you should marry them and have kids with them. It's the right thing to do. -- Howard, age 8

IS IT BETTER TO BE SINGLE OR MARRIED?

It's better for girls to be single but not for boys. Boys need someone to clean up after them. -- Anita, age 9

HOW WOULD THE WORLD BE DIFFERENT IF PEOPLE DIDN'T GET MARRIED?

There sure would be a lot of kids to explain, wouldn't there? -- Kelvin, age 8

And the #1 Favorite is.......
HOW WOULD YOU MAKE A MARRIAGE WORK?

Tell your wife that she looks pretty, even if she looks like a dump truck. -- Ricky, age 10

The Obsession Continues...

I have read three of the four "Twilight" books in roughly four days. I don't remember ever being this obsessed with a book series- of course, I never got into the whole "Harry Potter" thing. I remember being a voracious reader when I was younger... reading multiple books at once and finishing them in a day or two. But since college, and definitely since the kids came, I can't remember reading more than one or two "leisure" books. Seriously, I love these books.
What will I do when I finish the fourth? Can anyone recommend another series to start? Should I do the "Harry Potter" books?

Thank Goodness Its a Three Day Weekend...

Otherwise I wouldn't have time to read this...

I am obsessed. I finished it in less than two days... and I'm starting to read it again because I keep going back to reread my favorite parts. I bought the other three books in the series, but I already know how it ends. I couldn't sleep the other night until I got on the web and found some spoilers... like I said, I'm obsessed.
I fear my children, husband and housework will be greatly ignored in the next few days due to these books.
Who knew I was so into vampires?

Just Call Him Popeye!

Why does DS continually make this Popeye face when he's getting his pic taken? It's becoming impossible to get any decent pictures of him! But it sure is cute, isn't it?

Even Grandma had to get in on the action!

A Pic for the Grandmas...

Just posting a little cutie-patootie picture I found of DS! Thought the grandmas would like it!

Nie Nie Day

The blogging community is like a family.... it really is. Women and men that I will never meet in real life... in fact, I don't even know most of their real names. But I read about their lives, loves, trials and tribulations, joys and pains. I've cried through their births, deaths, marriages, divorces. Perhaps it's because I am a stay-at-home mom... but these people are my friends. They fill a void in me that comes from staying at home with two small children, without a job, and without adult companionship.

So, when I read about the recent accident involving Nie Nie Dialogues, I just felt like I should at least dedicate a post today... since it has been declared Nie Nie Day in the blogging community. Take the time to look at some of the wonderful things that are being done to help this deserving family. Design Mom has done a great job organizing this celebration and there are so many excellent items that you can bid on... all for a great cause!
